BioMCN and JPB Logistics build together

Thursday, 30 October 2008 13:44

BioMCN JPB
JPB Logistics will build a tank terminal next to BioMCN's plant with a total storage capacity of 250.000 m3. Tank sizes vary between 1.000 and 12.000 m3. The first phase (a total storage capacity of 80.000 m3 and a € 10 mln investment) will be complete in Q1 of 2009. JPB's first contract for this tank terminal is BioMCN - the tank will be used for the storage of glycerine, BioMCN's primary feedstock.

Even though Delfzijl is located in the very North of The Netherlands, it can be considered an ideal location due to excellent road, rail and water links. Also, 15% of Dutch chemicals is produced in Delfzijl.

BioMCN ISO certified

BioMCN ISO certified

BioMCN acquired not one, but two ISO certificates at once: 9001 and 14001. ISO 9001 provides a set of requirements for quality management systems; ISO 14001 focuses on the environment and gives the provisions for organizations wishing to operate in a sustainable manner. Obtaining the 14001 certificate was an obligation stated in the environmental license, but BioMCN met that requirement long before the deadline. “An achievement to be proud of”, says QHSE manager Jan de Graaf, “especially given the dynamic year BioMCN has had so far and its relatively short existence”.

Construction of largest bio-methanol plant begins

As BioMCN CEO Rob Voncken drives the first pile into the ground, BioMCN is taking another step towards its aim of producing large quantities of bio-methanol, which will deliver considerable reductions in CO2 emissions. The new plant enables BioMCN to purify and evaporate crude glycerine, thus making it possible to produce bio-syngas for making bio-methanol. Thanks to its renewable nature, bio-methanol can either be used as a bio-fuel in its own right or as a bio-fuel feedstock. Bio-methanol extends the current range of options for achieving the CO2 emission reduction targets set in the EU Renewable Energy Directive.

Balkenende Eurlings Binnenhof Lotus Exige Tri-Fuel

After filling up the unique Lotus Exige 270E Tri-Fuel with our bio-methanol, Dutch Prime Minister Balkenende and Minister of Transportation Eurlings, gladly took the opportunity to take the car for a spin around “Het Binnenhof” – the Dutch Houses of Parliament. The Lotus Exige was brought to The Netherlands to make its appearance at the ING Race Salon and Bavaria City Racing in Rotterdam. Because support from the government is crucial for the introduction of 'green' methanol, Mr. Balkenende and Mr. Eurlings were given the opportunity to drive the Lotus before it drove on to Rotterdam - they happily interrupted the budget talks for this.
