Bio-methanol available for IdaTech's fuel cell system

Foto_Idatech_fuel_cell_2BEND, OREGON, USA, October 20, 2011 – IdaTech plc (AIMM:IDA), a global leader in the development and manufacture of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell products for telecommunications and other critical backup power applications, is pleased to announce the availability of Bio-HydroPlus renewable fuel, a mixture of bio-methanol and de-ionized water, which is used to power IdaTech's backup power fuel cell systems.

BioMCN, the manufacturer supplying bio-methanol, is the first company to produce industrial quantities of high quality bio-methanol. Located in the Netherlands, their unique and innovative process converts crude glycerin, a residue from bio-diesel production, into bio-methanol, thus using its full energy potential and achieving substantial reductions in CO2 emissions.

Brenntag Pacific Inc, a regional operating company of Brenntag North America, a world leader in chemical distribution, blends bio-meethanol and de-ionized water to IdaTech's specification to make bio-HydroPlus fuel. The fuel is then packaged in 55-gallon drums and made available to customers to fuel their backup power fuel cell systems.

Fuel cells have always provided clean energy, and now they can be powered by renewable fuel, creating a sustainable power solution.
