Bio-methanol blends

BioMCN

The use of ethanol in gasoline blends is quite common, with Brazil leading the way. As a result of the Renewable Energy Directive, sales of so-called high content blends (E85) are growing steadily in Europe. Similar to ethanol, bio-methanol is also suitable for direct blending.

Using bio-methanol in fuel blends offers petrochemicals further flexibility in meeting the targets set in the Renewable Energy Directive, and at lower cost. In fact, the engine technology is already available today. One of the best known examples is the Lotus Exige 270E Tri-fuel.
